The Suzuki SX4. The budget Subaru WRX

(Full Disclosure: Suzuki wanted me to review this car so bad that they with drew from the Canadian market and offered 5000 dollar discounts at the exact same time my father was looking for a new car.)

Exterior 8/10

The car still looks pretty fresh for something that dated back to 2007. It was designed by Giugiaro. The car still looks better than some cars in it's class today, such as a Toyota Yaris or a Scion XD (Toyota Design Department Sucks)

Interior 7/10

The centre console is a bit outdated, but easy to use and is functional. For some unknown reason the interior lighting dims when you turn the lights on.

Acceleration 5/10

The engine itself is quite powerful, only let down by the CVT transmission. 0 to 100 Km takes about 8 seconds and it takes quite a bit of gas to merge on to the highway.

Brakes 9/10

Kinja'd!!!

The stock brakes are amazing. Push it a bit harder and the car will completely come to a dead stop. Your gotta tap the brakes in this car.

Ride 6/10

The sport suspension in the car makes the ride a bit choppy. It not uncomfortable but it's not a Mercedes S-Class.

Handling 8/10

On the other hand the sport suspension really helps with the handling at speeds below 70KM, You don't need to even tap the brakes. There is minimal body roll for a with that ride height.

Gearbox 4/10 If you live in an area with hills whatsoever, the CVT is great. But if you are like me, living in an area with hills than the you will hate the transmission. It has no power going uphill, but it accelerates like crazy when you go doing hill. I also noticed that the RPMs always stay around the 2000 mark.

Toys 6/10

The trim I tested is basic car, no cruise control, no touch screen Infomat system. It does come with heated seats and XM Radio, but that's basically it. It has everything you need, but nothing else.

Audio 9/10

8 Speaker plus Subwoofer from the factory on a $14000 car, Freaking awesome. When it comes to the engine, the 2.0 Litre , 150 Horsepower do make some pretty good sound for a subcompact car.

Value 9/10

My father got this car for $14000 CAD, that cheap for a new car. Cheaper than a Hyundai Accent, Honda Fit, Chevy Sonic, Toyota Yaris..... It not a fast car, but there is plenty of after-market to make it fast. In 10 years it will be a cheap second hand race/rally car.

Total 71/100

Engine: 2.0L naturally aspirated Inline 4

Power: 150 Hp @ 6200 RPM / 140 Lb-Ft @ 4000 RPM

Transmission: 6 Speed Manual, CVT

0-100 Km: Around 8 seconds for CVT

Top Speed: 195 KM

Drivetrain: FWD/AWD

Seating: 5 People. 2 up front, 3 at the back.

Fuel Economy: 7.3L/100 KM (31 MPG)

I am weirdly fascinated by these cars. Love the exterior styling, and the small hatch 4WD is great for winters up here. It's too bad Suzuki had to fold up tents here. I think they were really onto something.
